The National Prado Museum has the biggest collection of Spanish paintings of the world. Its galleries exhibit such an important works like the famous Meninas of Velázquez and Goya's The 3rd of May. The Italian and Flemish school are also represented by the works of Botticeli and Caravaggio for the first one and by Van der Weyden and El Bosco for the Flemish’s school.

With a permanent collection of more than 1.000 works of art, the Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum receives the story of the European art since the 13th century till the end of the 20th century. The Royal Palace was built by Felipe V and habited for the first time by Carlos III and for the last time by Alfonso XII. It is the official residence of the Spanish Royalty, but they do not live there. It is open to the public who can travel through the Spanish history and the story of its Royalty.

Declared National Monument in 1977, the Royal Theatre satisfies the wishes of the Queen Isabel II being an opera house worthy of a capital. This important symbol of the Spanish capital has been built to commemorate the entrance of Margarita de Austria, wife of Felipe V, in Madrid. The Door has been pulled down and remolded several times to look like now. In 1976 has been declared National Monument.
The Alcala’s Door is very close to our VP Jardín de Recoletos and it is also easy to go from VP El Madroño, only four metro stops (Diego de León – Retiro).
VP Jardín de Recoletos is only 5 minutes walking from this amazing Park located in the centre of Madrid.
I was built for the rest of Royalty and it has the Cristal Palace, the Velazquez Palace and the Cason del buen Retiro surrounded by wonderful fountains and monuments, like the Alfonso XII statue. There is also a big lake with rowing boats you can rent.
A curious data of this Park: it is the only one in the world that has a monument dedicated to the Devil. It is in the Angel Caido’s Fountain and represented the moment when Luzbel is expulsed from Paradise.
PUERTA DE SOL
Puerta del Sol is one of the most important squares in the whole country. There is Casa de Correos with the Clock of the Towel which marks the rhythm in New Year’s Eve for eating the twelve grapes a typical Spanish tradition.
Here you can also find the “Zero kilometer” and the statue “The Bear and the arbutus”, which is represented in our Madrid coat of arms and gives the name to our VP EL Madroño.
